Become a Team Mentor!
In a nutshell, a team mentor works side-by-side with BEST students on the robotics team in helping them
Before considering becoming a team mentor, we recommend you download and read the following documents:
Why It Matters
Mentor Time Commitment
General Guidelines for Mentors
Survival Tips from Veteran Mentors
BEST teams are encouraged to follow a tried-and-true process for conceptualizing, designing, constructing, and testing their robots to better insure the machines are capable of performing the game’s tasks/challenges. It’s called the Engineering Design Process, and it’s one of the core techniques taught in engineering schools.
The following documents are provided to each BEST teacher during summer teacher training workshops and each BEST team at Kick Off. Mentors are strongly encouraged to employ the process in working with their robotics teams:
The Engineering Design Process Simplified
A Robotic Design Method That Works
BEST Robotics and the Engineering Design Process
